When you were a child, you were probably told that the entire world is on your feet. That you can accomplish anything you put your mind and efforts on. Most of you have people around you that love you and care tons about you. You believe all these things. Yes, you can rule the world. Those who love you told you so. But what about all those things that nobody tells you about life?
One thing is for sure. No matter what, nobody will ever give you a “How to” manual about life. We all have to figure our shit out all alone.
What Nobody Tells You About Life
1. You Are Alone
No matter how many people you have around you who care for you, you are always alone. Sometimes you suffer, sometimes you celebrate, but you are alone and responsible for yourself. You alone can save or destroy yourself. Accept it, make the most out of it and go on. You have a life to live.
2. Life isn’t Easy
Life isn’t easy, but it doesn’t have to be hell either. Lots of difficulties will come your way and you have to face them. There is no way out of it and it happens to all. Guess what? Whatever the difficulty is, somebody else is dealing with it right now.
Life isn’t easy for anyone. See everything as a lesson and deal with it. There is no way out.
3. People will Reject You
Not everyone in this world is compatible with everyone else and nobody can be liked by all people. And that is ok. Whether it is personal or professional relationships, you must learn to accept no as an answer and be willing to say no also when that is what you feel you need to do.
4. You Have Limited Time
Life has a time limit and nobody knows when his life will end. It might be in several years or it might be the next moment. Do not let time pass away. Whatever it is you want to do, do it now.
Don’t wait. Make the moments of your life meaningful to you. Enjoy yourself.
5. All You Have is Yourself so Take Good Care of Him
Junk food might be tasty, and Netflix marathons might be fun. In the long run, however, eating healthy, sleeping well, and exercising are much more valuable for your overall health. Take care of yourself cause you will be with him for a long time.
6. Good Friends and Relationships are Hard to Find and Become Even Harder to Find While Growing Older
If you have good friends, family and a good relationship, you are lucky. You have people to understand you, to have fun with, to share your pains, and celebrate your victories. Be grateful for what you have.
7. People Come and People Go
Some people come into our lives for a reason, some others for a season, and others for a lifetime. There is no reason to hold on to relationships that have ended or demand from others to stay in your life forever. We change as we grow older and so do others.
8. You Will Fail
No matter how good you are or how good you think you are, chances are you might fail before you ever succeed. And there is nothing wrong with that. Failure is just another step of the way. We have more things to learn from our failures than those we have from our successes. Don’t wait until you do everything perfectly. Do something even if you know you will most possibly fail. This is the only road ahead.
9. You Are Not Better Than Anyone Else
There are lots of others who are way better than you. More beautiful, more successful, more creative, more whatever. You are you. You have your path in life to walk. There is no reason to compare your looks, talents, or abilities with anyone else’s. You might not be the best, but you are not the worst either. You are you and you are enough.
10. Don’t Only Trust Advises. Try Yourself
Advises are good to follow but sometimes the only way we can learn is through our own experiences. You might hear tons of good advice, or read millions of books and be a well-educated person, but unless you go out and start living your life, you will know nothing about life itself. Educate yourself, choose the advice you follow, and dive deep into life itself.
11. Death is Always There for Everyone
All your loved ones will die one day and so will you. Enjoy your moments with your loved ones. Create good memories. One day, this is only what you will have left of them. Value your priorities.
12. Growth Usually Feels Like Pain
To grow as a personality, make hard decisions, take risks, hurt your feelings and hurt other people’s feelings. Get out of your comfort zone and feel pain.
Growth doesn’t come easy and usually feels a lot like pain.
13. You Can’t Escape Fear
Everyone is afraid. Not everyone has the same fears, of course, but we are all afraid of something. Fear will always be there with you. While growing, what we learn to do is learn how to handle fears better and live with them.
14. Important Things Are Usually Hard to Say
All important things are hard to say and that is why you have to beat all your fears and say them. Things like ” I love you”, “I am sorry”, and “I need help”.
15. You Hardly Even Know What to Do
Nobody has everything figured out in life. Mostly, you will start doing things without knowing what you do. No matter how hard you try to make the best decisions, you will never know.
16. Nobody Cares That Much About You
Do not take yourself and your failures that seriously because everyone tries to figure out their own shit. Nobody cares that much about what you are doing and how good or bad you are.
17. The Money You Earn Do Not Define Your Value
The money you earn has nothing to do with your value as a person. Forget stereotypes. Do not lose yourself while trying to earn more money.
18. There is No One Definition of Success
Success to someone might mean fame, to another one, lots of money. Success might be the freedom to create art on your own terms. To someone else might be a happy family. Everyone has his own definition of success, so nobody is successful while the other one is a total loser. Figure out what success means to you.
19. Expensive Things and Beautiful Things are Still Just Things
Cars, clothes, shoes, houses, whatever, are just things. Most of them are not even necessary for your life. Whatever you can live without is unnecessary, and you had better not get too attached to it. You will not take it with you, you know where…
20. It is More Important to Know How to Listen Than To Always Have Something to Say
Do not stay there waiting for the other person to stop talking so that you say your thing. Pay attention to their words. Understand what they have to say. Learn how to listen and don’t just wait for your turn to talk.
Final Thoughts on What Nobody Tells You About Life
Life is beautiful but life is also hard. You might be lonely, you might be rejected, and you will most probably fail again and again. Choose how you spend your time and value your priorities.
My list is a good reminder of all those most people choose to ignore but without them life wouldn’t be the miracle it is.
